The objective of the present research is to identify the threats that challenge the resilience of the political system in the Second Phase of the Islamic Revolution and during the second forty years of the life of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The focus of this research is on the emerging concept of political resilience in contrast to the theories of political system stability. The experience of the crises formed against the political system during the period of the first forty years of the Islamic Revolution and in the form of seditions (fitnahs) indicates that the approach of the political system has been the endeavor for survival and stability against the effects of these seditions. Whereas, in the resilience literature, alteration in past policies and the modality of confronting threats and dynamic adaptation to the internal and external environmental conditions of the political system are of significance. The method of the present research has been conducted based on the three-pronged model (the challenge of structure, behavior, and context) and through the thematic analysis method and utilizing the open interview instrument. The findings of the thematic analysis indicate that the most important threats to the political system are structurally (the non-recognition of resilience, the lack of supervision, the incorrect execution of policies, the inattention to stakeholders), behaviorally (the nature of functionaries, the incorrect understanding of the organization, the ambiguity in organizational culture, the lack of sufficient knowledge, the lack of motivation), and contextually (the ambiguity in understanding the internal environment of the political system such as the level of analysis of power relations, the deviation from the revolutionary identity, and the external environment of the political system such as the exacerbation of peripheral conflicts, the lack of adaptive behavior, and the non-prediction of alternative scenarios).
