Abstract
secular regime and the reliance of the clergy on the head of power raised many questions in the minds of political thinkers and sociologists, such as whether the clergy can lead the Iranian society towards "democratization". guide and basically, what is the attitude of this religious institution with its key representatives towards the concepts and components of democracy?
The main purpose of this article is to answer the same question, for this purpose, by using the theory and models of democracy "David Held", the thought of one of the most key traditionalist clerics in the period of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sheikh Mohammad Yazdi, with a qualitative method about democracy. We discussed and raised the hypothesis that the traditional clergy with its leading representative (Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi) had a conservative attitude towards democracy by rejecting modernity; Based on this, the studies and findings indicated that Ayatollah Muhammad Yazdi organized his opinions based on the religious texts and jurisprudence and guarded the traditional jurisprudence and traditional interpretation of Islam in order to consolidate and strengthen the ideological state against the seven indicators. David Held's democracy has resisted.
