Sohrewardi's political theology can be depicted around the axis of prophethood.He explains the necessity of prophethood by presenting the necessity of law and legislator in society.Sohrewardi considers the divine sages as the only worthy successors of the prophets' mission and governance, by expressingthe mission of the prophets.When Sohrewardi intends to introduce a desirable model for the rulers of his time, he portrays an image of the wise rulers of ancient Iran.Sohrewardi's emphasis on the wise rulers of Iran raises the question of what characteristics Iranian rulers had to receive such attention. This research answersthis question by examining the role and status of Iranian rulers that Sohrewardi pays attention to.The research hypothesis is that the main characteristic of the wise rulers that Sohrewardi is interested in is the connection and harmony between religion and politics. Infact, itis this characteristic that has provided the grounds for Sohrewardi's attention to the wise rulers.
